Lord Nelson filly hammers for $185,000 at Fasig-Tipton
September 10, 2020
A filly from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Lord Nelson brought a winning bid of $185,000 during Wednesday’s session of the Sept. 9-10 Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase sale being held in central Kentucky.
Consigned by Vinery Sales, agent, on behalf of Spendthrift Farm, the chestnut filly, hip No. 183, went to Pilgrim Stable.
The Kentucky-bred is the second foal out of the stakes-placed Scat Daddy mare Kool Kat, whose dam Kona Kat is a half-sister to the champion sprinter Kona Gold.
Lord Nelson was a stakes winner for three straight years, and was at his peak at four, when he won three straight Grade 1 events. He stood the 2020 season at Spendthrift for $20,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
Lord Nelson has 10 lots cataloged for Thursday’s closing session, which begins at 10 a.m. ET.
