Frank’s Rockette takes Prioress (G2) for second straight graded win
September 6, 2020
Frank’s Rockette was just one of three graded stakes winners in an incredible day for Into Mischief, kicked off by Cool Arrow’s win in the Smile Sprint S. (G3) and capped by Authentic’s historic win in the Kentucky Derby (G1).
Coming into the Prioress off a narrow win in the Victory Ride S. (G3), Frank’s Rockette dominated the Prioress field. She tracked Hello Beautiful through a quarter-mile in :22.23, then switched to the outside on the turn and put her head in front through a half in :44.77. In the stretch, she drew off powerfully to complete the six furlongs in a quick 1:08.89 on a fast main track while beating Reagan’s Edge by 2 ½-lengths.
“I thought we might be on the lead,” said winning trainer Bill Mott of the Frank Fletcher homebred. “I didn’t see that kind of speed coming from her [Hello Beautiful]. Our filly broke well, but Hello Beautiful broke exceptionally well and showed good speed as well. Junior [Alvarado, aboard the winner] rode her perfectly.”
Runner-up in both the GII Adirondack S. and GI Spinaway S. last summer, Frank’s Rockette now has a record of 5-4-0 from 9 career starts and a bankroll of $523,603.
Frank’s Rockette’s dam, Rocket Twentyone, won the 2011 Arlington-Washington Lassie S. (G3) and has produced three stakes horses from three foals.
