Huntsinger the latest MdSpWt winner for Cinco Charlie
August 4, 2020
Huntsinger rallied to win his debut on Aug. 3 at Lone Star Park, besting Stone Café by a neck in a 5 ½-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds.
He is the second maiden special winner for his top-10 First-Crop sire Cinco Charlie, who was also recently represented by his first black type horse when the filly Angel’s Sassy placed in the $75,000 Tah Dah S.
Huntsinger was bred by his namesake Larry Huntsinger and is owned by Sam Sherman and John Middleton. The colt’s dam Castelli’s Ace has produced seven winners and is a sister to multiple stakes winner Triple Card.
Cinco Charlie, who stood for a fee of $5,000 S&N in 2020, is participating in Spendthrift’s renowned breeding program for freshman sires – the Safe Bet program – in 2020, which guarantees breeders a graded stakes-winning 2-year-old from his first crop this year or no stud fee will be owed in 2021 when the resulting foal is born.
