Into Mischief’s Lucrezia rolls in Suncoast S.
February 9, 2020
Lucrezia drew off to five-length victory in the $100,000 Suncoast S. Feb. 8 at Tampa Bay Downs, the second straight stakes win for the 3-year-old Into Mischief filly.
The Edward Seltzer and Beverly Anderson homebred wrapped up 2019 with a win in the Sandpiper S. on Dec. 7, her first stakes win, and is now 3-1-0 in five starts and has earned $150,800.
Lucrezia, ridden by Daniel Centeno, broke quickly from her inside post, but let the speedy Two Sixty set the pace. After a half-mile in :47.81, Lucrezia moved out and around Two Sixty, then zipped through the stretch to finish the 1 1/16-miles in 1:39.99, just three-fifths off the stakes record.
“She broke very sharp and was a little aggressive going into the first turn, and I tried to get her to relax because I didn’t want to go head-to-head with (Two Sixty),” Centeno said. “I put her on the outside (inside the 3/8-mile pole) and she switched leads and when I asked her a little bit, she like just exploded.
Lucrezia is just one of seven stakes winners already for Into Mischief in 2020, topping the General Sire list. He has a pair of 3-year-old graded winners on the Triple Crown trail, and the dynamic stakes-winning filly Taraz is also being considered for the spring classics.
