January 5, 2020
Race Day’s second crop got off to a fast start on the first Saturday of the new year with a pair of maiden special weight wins.
Conquest Day, who was making his racing debut, got things started with a sharp 3 ½-length score in a six-furlong race at Tampa Bay Downs. The gray/roan colt is owned by Sonata Stable and trained by Jorge Navarro. Bred by Spendthrift Farm, Conquest Day is the second foal out of Annabird and is from the same family as Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart and Grade 1 winner Explosive Red.
Later in the afternoon, the filly Racetothefinish rolled by 6 ¼-lengths in a six-furlong race at Hawthorne in what was her second lifetime start. Racetothefinish is owned by William Stiritz and bred by George Bates Trustee (VIDEO).
Among Race Day’s First-Crop winners in 2019 were Grade 1 winner Consultora and additional black type winners. He is standing the 2020 season at Spendthrift for $7,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
