Auberge’s “TDN Rising Star” performance in a six-furlong maiden special weight race Sunday at Santa Anita Park wrapped up a stellar weekend that saw First-Crop sire Palace rack up three new maiden winners over the two-day span, upping his overall total to eight winners, topped by stakes winner Chacha Real Smooth and stakes-placed Tensas Weezy.
Purchased by Speedway Stable for $570,000 out of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-old sale in May, Auberge lived up to her big sale price with a dazzling performance on Sunday. After dueling for the lead with Parkour through a quarter-mile in :22.21, Auberge began to edge clear on the turn, the poured it on in the stretch without any urging to win by 7 ¾-lengths in 1:10.98 (VIDEO).
The most expensive 2-year-old by Palace this year, Auberge was bred by H. Allen Poindexter. She is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Theperfectvow and is from the family of champion Banshee Breeze.
Palace’s Saturday winners came at Woodbine when Palace Two Step broke her maiden by a length in front-running style , while Golden Palace broke his maiden at Delta Downs.
