Cowboy Mischief gets first stakes win in Oklahoma Turf Classic
October 20, 2019
Into Mischief’s remarkable 2019 continued on Saturday when Cowboy Mischief registered his first career stakes victory in the $130,000 Oklahoma Turf Classic at Remington Park.
The Kelly Thiesing homebred was twice stakes-placed at two last year and is now 3-2-2 in eight starts and has earned $172,064.
Cowboy Mischief is the 17th stakes winner this year for his sire and has pushed his progeny earnings to $14.9 million, which is over $2 million more than any other sire in North America in 2019.
Making just his second start on the grass, Cowboy Mischief was never more than three lengths from the lead at any point of Saturday’s 1 1/16-mile contest. He made a three-wide move for the lead in upper stretch and held off Hallelujah Hit late to win by a half-length in 1:42.66.
Cowboy Mischief is the first foal out of Lady Jensen, a two-time stakes winner and a half-sister to Soldier’s Dancer, a 10-time stakes winner of over $1.5 million.
