Cross Traffic filly impresses in first stakes start

Rush Hour Traffic overcame trouble at the break and found her best stride in the final furlong to score by four lengths in the $100,000 Northern Lights Debutante at Canterbury Park on Sept. 1 (VIDEO).

The 2-year-old filly is the eighth stakes horse this year for Cross Traffic, who is the leading cumulative Second-Crop Sire by black type winners, Grade 1 stakes horses and Grade 1 winners, and is second only to fellow Spendthrift stallion Goldencents by black type horses.

Rush Hour Traffic, a Sugarland Thoroughbreds homebred, got pinched slightly at the break, but quickly recovered and made her way into second just after passing the quarter-mile mark. In hot pursuit of heavy favorite Defend the Rose on the turn and into the stretch, Rush Hour Traffic asserted herself and drew off with authority to win her stakes debut.

The winner is out of Dana’s Lucky Lady and is a full sister to two-time stakes winner Dame Plata and a half-sister to Grade 1 winner La Glamorosa and stakes winner Paddy O’Lionel.
