“Wonderful” Danza filly commands $400,000 at OBS
April 25, 2019
After a dazzling breeze last week at the Under Tack Show, Danza’s hip No. 478 attracted plenty of bidders Wednesday at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, ultimately going for $400,000 to Sheikh Rashid Humaid Al Noaimi.
Consigned by Best A Luck Farm LLC, agent, the filly’s dam Polish Silk has already produced six winners, topped by multiple stakes winner I Got It All.
“She is a classy-looking filly and she’s just gotten better and better every day,” Best A Luck’s Lori Fackler said after the bay worked a furlong in :9 4/5 last week. “She’s wonderful to be around and very level-headed.”
One of the top fillies sold through the first two days of the glowingly-popular OBS April sale, she was bred in Kentucky by David G. Campbell.
Grade 1 winner Danza captured his biggest victory in the 2014 Arkansas Derby (G1), winning by 4 3/4 lengths and earning a 101 Beyer. Aside from American Pharoah, the performance marks the fastest and most dominant in the last dozen runnings.
Danza is one of six Spendthrift first-crop stallions participating in the farm’s Safe Bet program in 2019, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
