Into Mischief colt rolls to TDN Rising Star status at Keeneland
April 7, 2019
Honest Mischief topped an excellent Saturday at Keeneland for 3-year-olds by Into Mischief with his commanding eight-length victory in a seven-furlong maiden special weight affair on the main track (VIDEO).
One race later, Covfefe made it two straight for the Spendthrift stallion with a 6 ½-furlong allowance win over the same surface.
After a tough second in his Feb. 2 debut, Honest Mischief was the prohibitive favorite on Saturday and ran like he was much the best. Tracking along in fifth through the first quarter-mile in :22 2/5, Honest Mischief made a bold, four-wide move on the turn to fly by the leaders, then opened up in the stretch at will to finish in 1:22.43 and earned an excellent Beyer Speed Figure of 93.
Honest Mischief is a Juddmonte Farms homebred out of Honest Lady, also the dam of Grade 1 winner First Defence. Honest Lady, also a winner at the highest level, is out of the brilliant Toussaud, the dam of Empire Maker, Chiseling and Chester House, all Grade 1 winners as well.
Covfefe, who broke her maiden last fall by nearly 10 lengths, got Saturday’s win by a half-length in front-running style (VIDEO).
Owned by LNJ Foxwoods and bred by Alexander-Groves Thoroughbreds, Covfefe is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Albiano, while her dam Antics is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Arch and Acoma.
