Into Mischief filly tops Spendthrift trifecta in Bourbonette Oaks
March 10, 2019
Naughty Joker led the way to a 1-2-3 finish for Spendthrift Farm-sired fillies in Saturday’s $100,000 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park.
The winner bested Fun Finder (Cross Traffic) by 1 ¾-lengths, with New Roo (Dominus) just a half-length back in the third spot.
Naughty Joker, who finished second in last year’s Spendthrift Juvenile S. at Churchill Downs, picked up her first stakes win, while Fun Finder and New Roo both earned their first black type placings.
It was Fun Finder who showed the way early on in the one-mile contest, with Naughty Joker and New Roo in mid-pack in the field of 11. Fun Finder still had the lead after six furlongs, but Naughty Joker made a big move coming into the stretch to take the lead. Fun Finder was game late, but could not keep pace with the winner, who got the distance on the synthetic surface in 1:40.08 on a rainy day.
Naughty Joker is owned by her breeders Ken and Sarah Ramsey.
Into Mischief, a top-five sire in 2018, is once again near the top of the leaderboard this year with over $2.4 million in progeny earnings, six stakes horses, and 40 individual winners to date.
