Medal Count colt turns in excellent breeze at OBS

A colt from the first crop of Medal Count worked an eighth-mile in a lively 10 seconds flat during Thursday’s Under Tack Show for the March 12-13 OBS 2-year-old sale next week in Ocala.

Cataloged as hip No. 50 and consigned by Golden Rock Thoroughbreds, the bay colt is a son of Blue Samurai and from the same family as graded stakes winners Evil’s Pic, Evil Minister, and Trick’s Pic.

Medal Count, winner of the Transylvania S. (G3) and runner-up in the Blue Grass S. (G1), is participating in Spendthrift Farm’s newly-announced Safe Bet program, which assures breeders that the stallion’s first crop will have one graded or group winner, or the subsequent 2020 foal’s stud fee will be waived.
