Malibu Moon surpasses $100 million progeny earnings milestone

Malibu Moon’s brilliant stud career reached new heights on Sept. 15 when the Spendthrift stallion’s progeny earnings mark crossed the $100 million mark.
Malibu Pro also became his sire’s newest stakes winner on Saturday when he won the John Bullitt S. at Canterbury Park by a nose. Malibu Moon’s High Security ran third in the same race.
At Churchill Downs, the 2-year-old colt Hollywood Star placed in a graded stakes for the second time in his young career with a close second in the Iroquois S. (G3), which was his first start around two turns.
And at Laurel Park, Blu Moon Ace was beaten just a neck in the DeFrancis Memorial Dash (G3), his first graded stakes start.
2017 has been another superlative year for Malibu Moon. He ranks eighth on the General Sire list with $7.8 million in earnings, fourth by Grade 1 winners with three, and also fourth by winners with 133.
