Controlled Fury and Strike Lightning both chalked up wins on Monday, upping Jimmy Creed’s first-crop winners to 11 this year.
The Spendthrift stallion is in the top three on the Freshman Sire list in several categories, leading by stakes horses, with five, tied for second by winners, and third by progeny earnings.
Controlled Fury was a front-running winner going six furlongs at Gulfstream Park, winning by a length in 1:11.65. The Florida-bred is the first foal out of Carolinaonmymind and is owned by Stonehedge LLC.
Strike Lightning rallied from well off the pace to win his 5 1/2-furlong contest by a convincing 4 1/2-lengths at Camarero Race Track. The bay colt was bred by Spendthrift Farm and is owned by Aquino Stable. He is the first foal out of Shy Girl, who is a sister to three stakes winners.
