Jimmy Creed colt waltzes to victory in $150K Governor’s S.
August 15, 2018
The Money Dance rallied strongly in the stretch to win the $150,000 Governor’s S. on July 15 at Indiana Grand going away by 3 ½-lengths, giving the 3-year-old Jimmy Creed colt his first stakes victory.
Racing over a sloppy surface that was hit by rain while the horses were being saddled for the 1 mile and 70 yard main track contest, The Money Dance broke from post 1 and settled nicely in midpack through the first half-mile, which went in :47.71 seconds. Swinging five-wide on the final turn, the chestnut colt then powered past In a Fog in mid-stretch and drew off to win with authority.
Bred and trained by Mike Lauer, who owns the colt with Falcon Racing Stable, The Money Dance is 3-2-1 in 12 starts and has earned $254,222. He is out of Whistlin’ Jean and a half-brother to Whistle Stop (by Into Mischief), both of whom won the Hoosier Breeders’ Sophomore S.
The Money Dance is the fourth stakes winner this year for Jimmy Creed, who is second on the Second-Crop Sire list for active North American sires, with just over $2 million in progeny earnings.
