Party Boat celebrates Wait a While S. win
December 10, 2016
Into Mischief’s promising 2-year-old filly Party Boat battled to a neck victory in Saturday’s $75,000 Wait a While S. at Gulfstream Park over a sloppy race track.
Into Mischief is currently the leading sire of 2-year-olds in 2016, with 33 winners, six black type winners and 12 black type juveniles to date.
Originally scheduled for the turf, the Wait a While was switched to a sloppy main track. Party Boat was several lengths off the lead for the backstretch run and came under a drive from jockey Joel Rosario with three furlongs to run.
Coming three-wide into the stretch, Party Boat seemed to struggle with the off going, but ultimately found her best stride in the final sixteenth of a mile, forging to the lead to win by a neck.
The victory upped Party Boat’s record to 3-1-0 in five starts with earnings of $113, 025 for owner Hope Jones. Bred in Kentucky by Fred Hertrich III, Party Boat sold for $100,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
