Into Mischief 2yo sharp in $300K Springboard Mile

Cool Arrow streaked to a front-running victory in the $300,000 Springboard Mile S. Sunday evening at Remington Park, the feature race of the meet for 2-year-olds.

The win was the second stakes victory at the Oklahoma oval for the son of Into Mischief, who is currently the 2016 leading sire of 2-year-olds, with nearly $3 million in progeny earnings and 87 winners to date this year.

Cool Arrow, trained by Joe Sharp and ridden by Luis Saez, wasn’t fazed by breaking from the outside post in the field of 12 juveniles. The bay colt sprang right to the lead and made every pole a winning one, increasing his margin from a length to 3 1/2-lengths on the wire (VIDEO).

“He had a good break and had a comfortable lead,” Saez affirmed. “When he came to the stretch he took off. He moved very easy. When I felt some pressure at about a half-mile, I let him go a little bit and he took off.”

“The Kip Deville (stakes win at Remington in late September) was the first step in the right direction for him,” Sharp added. “The patience has paid off from Brad (Grady, owner) and the crew. We are grateful of Luis to get him there. He did a great job to get a good position early and make the best out of a bad post position. Good horses will overcome that stuff.”

Cool Arrow, who also has a clear second-place finish in the inaugural Spendthrift Stallion S. on his resume, is now 3-2-0 in six starts and has earned $282,835. Grady’s Grand Oaks purchased the colt for $120,000 at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton New York Saratoga select yearling sale.
