Miss Sunset racks up third career stakes victory
April 30, 2017
Into Mischief’s up-and-coming 3-year-old filly Miss Sunset won the third stakes of her career in just seven starts with a length victory in the $100,000 Campanile S. Sunday at Golden Gate Fields.
The versatile filly has the distinction of winning added-money events on turf and dirt surfaces.
In the one-mile Campanile, Miss Sunset got a stern test from Radish, who tracked her throughout, and was on nearly even terms in mid-stretch before the winner forged ahead to stop the timer in 1:39.20 (VIDEO).
Jeff Bonde trains the winner for the owner/ breeder combo of Alan Klein and Philip Lebherz. The victory upped Miss Sunset’s earnings to $265,930, with a mark of 4-0-1 in seven outings.
Into Mischief is currently the leading world-wide 3-year-old sire, with no less than eight sophomore stakes horses, including Grade 2 winner One Liner and next week’s Kentucky Derby (G1) participant Practical Joke.
