Flat Out filly flies through Churchill Downs stretch in MdSpWt win
November 11, 2017
Deadline saved her best running for the final furlong in her 4 3/4-length maiden special weight win on Saturday over the Churchill Downs turf course.
Parked in the back half of the 12-horse field for the first five furlongs, the striking dark bay filly advanced steadily in the turn, then surged to the front and pulled away swiftly in the final sixteenth of a mile to win in hand (VIDEO).
Deadline was purchased by her owner Walking L Thoroughbreds for $75,000 out of the Fasig-Tipton Summer Yearling sale and was bred in Kentucky by Malibu Farm.
Flat Out’s list of impressive first-crop winners now numbers 15, tying him for third-most with fellow Spendthrift stallion Jimmy Creed on the 2017 Freshman Sire list.
