Breeders’ Cup Friday: 2YOs stallion spotlight

Spendthrift stallions Cross Traffic, Goldencents and Jimmy Creed all have starters during Friday’s Breeders’ Cup card, which is solely focuses on the 2-year-olds.
Both Cross Traffic and Goldencents are First-Crop Sires of 2018, while Jimmy Creed’s first crop are 3-year-olds this year.
Cross Traffic’s Jaywalk is among the top choices in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), which is race 7 at 4:40 p.m. ET. The gray filly has been brilliant thus far, with three wins in four starts, including the Frizette S. (G1) Oct. 7 at Belmont Park, when she won by nearly six lengths in very impressive fashion. She has post 7 in the 10-horse field and will be ridden by Joel Rosario.
Jimmy Creed’s up-and-coming colt King of Speed will contest the $1 million Juvenile Turf (G1). He drew post 11 in the full field of 14 going one mile. The flashy chestnut has shown a tremendous turn of foot in his last two starts in southern California, winning the Del Mar Juvenile Turf and Zuma Beach S. at Santa Anita Park. King of Speed is one of Jimmy Creed’s 11 stakes horses this year, help him to the third spot on the 2018 Second-Crop Sire list.
Rounding out the day is Goldencents’ first Breeders’ Cup starter, Mr. Money in the $2 million Juvenile (G1), which runs at 6:05 p.m. ET. The bay colt drew post 2 in another 14-horse field. He broke his maiden Sept. 28 at Churchill Downs, drawing off to win by four lengths over the Breeders’ Cup distance of 1 1/16 miles. Gabriel Saez will ride for trainer Bret Calhoun.
