$750,000 filly anchors huge day at OBS for Omaha Beach
April 27, 2023
First-Crop offerings from Omaha Beach were among the most sought-after juveniles during Wednesday’s session of the OBS Spring 2-year-olds in Training sale, with a filly hammering for $700,000 and a colt for $650,000.
Both had worked a furlong in :09 4/5 during last week’s Under Tack show.
The filly, catalogued as hip No. 532, was consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. and went to agent Clay Scherer.
“She had a great work,” Scherer said of the filly. “It was really fast, she leveled off, changed leads. She did everything you like to see.”
Scherer indicated that the filly would go to trainer Brad Cox.
“The Omaha Beaches are incredibly athletic,” Scherer said of the Spendthrift stallion. “They do everything the right way. He’s a good son of War Front and he comes from a huge family.”
The bay filly is out of Intelyhente and is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Count Alexander. Interyhente is a full sister to Alcibiades S. (G2) winner Bel Air Beauty.
Hip No. 466, a colt consigned by Mayberry Farm, agent, was purchased by the tandem of Spendthrift Farm and Nice Guys Stables.
Bred by Town & Country Horse Farms in Kentucky, the colt sold for $195,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale.
